I caught this online, an interview with John C. Wright (and author who has quickly become one of my favorites…). He’s the first author being interviewed. I think I had only vaguely ‘heard’ of the second one being interviewed, but the latter one definitely raises some great points about the science-fiction genre. check it out:
I think I am just starting to realize one of the reasons I love so many different science-fiction and fantasy books is that they truly do deal with deeper issues. And the Christian fiction that I enjoy has the technique of exploring the deeper meanings of life without beating you over the head with a specific message (Stephen Lawhead excels at weaving a Christian worldview into his novels and dealing with deeper issues without “forcing” a perspective or understanding upon the reader).
And I think, also, this is a reason I enjoy playing with the idea of writing science fiction. One day I really am going to start putting my ideas on paper (or on the screen, as it will probably be). Watch out!
