okay, this is quite interesting. Thanks to one of my friends who pointed this out in an email. The article is here. It is mainly highlighting the fact that the Obama’s haven’t decided where they will be attending church in Washington D.C.
Hey, I know a few people from North Wake who are going to be planting a church in D.C. next year – wonder if the Obama’s would consider attending there… (no, that wasn’t sarcasm….not completely…)
A few interesting points from the article:
- I don’t believe the United Church of Christ (where he attended until Wright started spouting overtly non-Christian rhetoric – props to Obama for knowing that wasn’t right, or truth) believes in the trinity. In that since I’m not even sure they qualify as evangelical or protestant. (I’m gonna double-check on that though…)
- Page 2 – not that it says that Bill Clinton is Southern Baptist (they don’t believe in women pastors), but Hillary was Methodist (they do believe in women pastors). I found that…interesting.
- There is mention of whether or not Obama will choose a “historically black church”. I pray not. Martin Luther King Jr. Dream wasn’t an America where you chose your church based on their racial demographic.
In the end, my prayer is that Obama will, whether by design or just the grace of God, end up in a church which preaches weekly from the Word, believes in the innerrancy of the Bible, and preaches that the only way to God (or heaven) is through Christ.
I know, it’s a long shot – but it would be awesome, would it not?
