Okay, I totally wasn’t aware of this until I saw the headline on Digg.com, but apparently Obama has some sort of weekly address he gives on YouTube (maybe it just started – don’t know, never heard of it before). Well, I found this week’s address….sadly lacking.
Simply put, I love the idea of the President (I could care less about him talking about what he will do as president – I want to be appraised of what’s going on right now!) addressing the nation on a regular basis on what is going on. I think that will restore a lot of confidence in the government throughout this process. So, on this aspect of what he’s trying to do here, I applaud his efforts of using a universally accessible medium. Smart move. But…
Here’s my main deal. He says nothing new in this video. I’d almost swear they just chopped out pieces from his campaign speeches and acceptance speech and slapped ‘em all together. So, though it is a great gesture in communication, it ends up being pretty useless, at least this week.
In the end, don’t waste my time by telling me something I’ve already heard. I know you preach change. I’ve heard you list where that change needs to happen. Tell me what you have actually done to initiate that change or some part of it. I don’t care if it’s a new bill or some other sort of movement towards actually making something happen.
As a citizen, I am tired of all the talk. Let’s see some action.
